Summer Kids Marine Eco Camps

This half-term break, the campers will experience a combo of marine and terrestrial adventures now including the Mastic Trail and other cultural experiences. We have expanded the program beyond the seas to create a diverse eco-experience. 

Dates:  Week 1 ) Mon. 1st - Fri. 5th August 2022  Week 2) Mon. 8th - Fri. 12th August 2022  Week 3) Mon. 15th - Fri. 19th August 2022 
Marine Eco Camp Schedule:  9:00am to 4:00pm daily.
Marine Eco Camp price: $499 CI for the 5 day camp per person.
Prerequisites: minimum of 8 years old and be able to swim.
Shuttle Service:  pick-up and drop-off from Hurley's or Countryside.

Our focus is to keep the campers outside in the natural environment to engage with the world around them and see what they have learned from the class sessions in action. 

Each morning starts with a short academic session and immediately followed by activities from our dive, snorkel boats or land-based tours. This is repeated in the afternoon, with different topics and activities to a different coral reef site or trail area.

The Campers will experience a selection of some the following activities:-

Boat Skills - learn the ropes of crewing a boat with fun teamwork challenges.
Sea Safety- practice safety drills, man-overboard, flare tests, life-raft race.
Marine Parks- know the rules and know why.
Hazardous Marine Life- learn how to stay safe in Cayman's waters.
Sponges & Invertebrates- the fascinating lives of sponges and starfish.
Maritime History, wrecks and artificial reefs of the Cayman Islands.
Reef Health and Coral Restoration in action - hands-on learning at our coral nurseries.
Sharks - Why we must protect them and observe them in the wild.
Turtles - All about those turtle dudes in depth and detail.
Rays - An expanded session going into depth on our celebrity marine life.
Lionfish - Cull the invasive species and watch a full dissection.
Mangroves - explore these vital nurseries of the sea.
Mastic Trail Hike - trek the ancient tropical forests of Cayman
Around the island at sea - an all-day adventure. 

Specific activities will change week to week, based on the weather conditions and age ranges of campers for the particular week. 

All sessions are run by qualified marine biologists and experienced and certified boat captains. The campers have direct supervision from the moment we pick them up, throughout the day, in the water, out of the water, lunchtime, and until we drop them off and release them to a parent or authorized caregiver. 

Lunch is available at the onsite restaurant, Eagle Ray’s, or Subway Sandwiches nearby or you may opt to send your child with a packed lunch. 

All staff are trained in Rescue, First Aid, and CPR. All vessels are inspected and certified by the Cayman Islands Port Authority.
