We encourage all divers to complete a pool self-check upon arrival to familiarize themselves with their gear, test any new equipment, and confirm everything is in working order before their scheduled dives. This safe and controlled setting helps bridge the gap between what you think you recall about scuba diving and the reality of using the equipment underwater. For the smoothest transition back into diving, consider starting with our shallow 1-Tank orientation dive on the house reef.
For a comprehensive review, our PADI ReActivate program is the ideal option to refresh your knowledge of diving risks, practice essential skills, and reinforce safety protocols as a responsible dive buddy. The program includes a PADI ReActivate eCard with your updated certification date, perfect for future trips. To make the process seamless, we include eLearning in the course price and send the necessary paperwork in advance for online completion. NOTE: Any certified diver may upgrade to a more comprehensive option (ie - upgrading from Option 3 to Option 4) regardless of their time spend out of the water. The above policies are general requirements and can be changed, modified or altered at the discretion of Ocean Frontiers management for the safety and enjoyment of our customers and dive staff.
How long has it been since your last dive?
We require you to do a Pool Self-Check.
This is unsupervised by Ocean Frontiers staff and is strictly to be done only by certified divers with a buddy. If you are a solo traveller - a staff member may be available upon request only. This should be done with your own equipment if you have it or the gear you will be renting.
The best use of this self check would be to do - at the very least - the following:
- Ensure you know exactly how your dive computer works and how to view your dive log.
- Setup your own equipment, enter the pool and do a pre-dive safety check.
- In the shallow end, attempt a regulator recovery and mask removal and replace.
- Surface and orally inflate your BCD.
- Descend over the deep end into a hover without touching the bottom.
- Without looking, do a touch test with every component of your BCD, familiarizing the exact location of everything.
- Swim around and practice good breathing and kicking habits.
- Ascend slowly and inflate your BCD with the power inflator upon surfacing.
NOTE: If you are renting gear for any subsequent dive trips with us then it will be included in your Pool Self-Check.

FAQ
Once you have booked and paid for your PADI course with us, we will send you a student registration Google Form to fill out with the necessary information we need to assign the PADI eLearning to each student that has signed up with you. This includes a unique email address per student, birthdate and legal names. You will then receive 2 emails directly from PADI. 1) is to create a PADI account and start the eLearning course 2) is the course paperwork including the Diver Medical which needs to be filled out before arriving.
You have lifetime access to the eLearning content, however the quizzes, exam and practical training all need to be completed within one year to meet the standards of a PADI course.
Once you finish the eLearning portion of the course, the Ocean Frontiers Dive Center is notified that you have completed it and that you are ready for the practical phase of the program.
No, you do not. Feel free to contact reservations@oceanfrontiers.com in respect to this and they will tailor a course package for you.
