After turning west out of Collier's Channel, Turtle Pass is the first site encountered — and it is an excellent spot for Loggerhead turtles, hence the name. Located right on the northeastern corner of Grand Cayman, it is not always sheltered enough from the worst conditions, but it is well worth diving when good weather permits. The reef structure sits at 60+ feet and drops into fine white sand below 70 feet. A low-ceilinged swim-through right below the boat provides an exhilarating experience — more intimidating in appearance than reality, with plenty of room inside once you enter.
After exiting the tunnel into open water, watch into the blue for Loggerhead turtles, especially during the spring mating season. During these times, these leviathans have been known to approach divers directly to investigate them as potential mates — they either have poor eyesight or are not too particular! Guests with cameras have captured unbeatable photographs and videos during these amorous and memorable encounters.
