Top Secret was named because it had no mooring and was known only by a select few boat captains — though your captain may claim it is named for the large mansions onshore that could easily pass for the secret lairs of James Bond villains. The first thing divers notice on descending is a huge Pillar Coral: over 10 feet high, with many individual spires, this rare and delicate species is a sight to behold. There are only a few examples of this beautiful, endangered coral around the entire Cayman Islands.
Smaller pillar colonies surround the primary structure, created when the main colony spawned and free-floating polyps landed nearby. Swim a little deeper among the sandy channels and reef fingers for a chance to find one of the rarest critters on East End — the Sharptail Snake Eel. Despite their serpentine appearance and name, these are fish, not snakes, and their spotty skin and goofy faces make them a popular find on the boat.
