Named after a significant scuba diving promotional event held in January 1990, right around the time of the Superbowl and just after the DEMA dive trade show, Scuba Bowl consists of a winding wall face with two large pinnacles and a massive mushroom formation resembling a church spire. The most exposed of The Corner dive sites and a little deeper than most, it can be challenging to get on, but it is gratifying once you do. The bounteous coral and sponges thrive off vast quantities of nutrients from upwellings and currents, and immense schools of fish call this healthy and dynamic wall home.
This area makes a great drift dive — marvel at the ravines, ledges, channels, and buttresses as you drift effortlessly along the wall. Along the wall's edge, divers can find Cubera Snappers: gigantic fish, up to three feet in length, whose shyness is not in keeping with their intimidating size. Despite looking like they own the place, they move away at the merest hint of an approach — act casual and keep your distance for the best chance of observation.
