No site looks quite like this one. The flat sandy bottom drops abruptly downward at a 45-degree angle and flows through a series of narrow channels in the steep reef wall toward the main drop-off, creating cascading rivers of sand — a visually stunning and unique dive. The top of the wall sits at only 50 feet, making River of Sands accessible to all levels, and its sheltered location protects it from the worst currents and waves. Following the rivers down through the rock and onto the wall, look in the sand for Razor Fish — hovering just above the bottom, they dart into their burrows in an instant when spooked, leaving just a puff of sand behind.
Swimming along the wall reveals overhangs, ledges, and gaps to pass through — this is not a passive observation dive but an immersive one that gets you amongst the features of a magnificent wall. If conditions are right, the divemaster may shallow up from the wall through one of the many swim-throughs, creating a thrilling transition as the narrow point of light ahead grows steadily wider until you burst from the twilight zone out onto the sunlit reef above.
