Named in honor of the Cayman Islands Dive Lodge resident dog who enjoyed coming out on the boat and following the divers' bubbles from the surface, Kelly's Caverns offers three distinct sections giving divers a wide variety in a single dive. Directly under the boat, canyons and tunnels — especially to the east of the pin — provide a classic Half Moon Bay experience. The many nooks and crevices are home to the shyest of Cayman's marine life; a slow, low approach yields the best views.
The rubble field at 45–50 feet along the edge of the miniwall is a macro lover's dream — look for the extremely rare Purple Crowned Sea Goddess, a sea slug that will generate serious envy when you show off your photos at the bar after the dive. Just beyond the rubble field, a vast expanse of crystalline white sand holds sand-dwelling critters such as Pike Blennies and Yellow-Headed Jawfish, while large Barracuda hover ominously in the water column above. Like Kelly, your tail will be wagging as you climb the ladder after this dive.
