PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course - More Info
What does it cover?
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course online segment includes knowledge development for the two required topics; the Deep and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dives, along with five of the most popular elective dives. These include Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diver, Boat Diver and Underwater Naturalist. As with the PADI Open Water Diver course, the entire PADI Adventures in Diving manual (complete with all Adventure Dive possibilities) will be available online to divers enrolled in the course. Please note that if you wish to complete the PADI Enriched Air Diver (nitrox) or Digital Underwater Photographer Adventure Dives then the relationship to the Adventures in Diving program differs slightly. You will need to complete the knowledge development for those two programs separately, either through the PADI Enriched Air Online or Digital Underwater Photography Online programs or by purchasing the student manuals from your local PADI Dive Center. Experience real adventure and be one step closer to Master Scuba Diver - the ultimate non-professional certification in recreational diving.
What are the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course prerequisites?
You need to be at least 12 years old, a certified entry-level diver and fit for diving to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. Any certified entry-level diver who is at least 12 years old may enroll in the PADI eLearning Advanced Open Water Diver online program.
How does it work?
After enrolling, PADI's eLearning® system presents you with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss. This lets you move through the program efficiently and at your own pace.
What else is required to complete the course?
Prior to certification as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, you must successfully complete at least five Adventure Dives. Two of these are mandatory; the Deep Adventure Dive and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive. The other three dives that you complete can be chosen from a wide range of Adventure Dives and the decision as to which dives you complete will be based on what is available at your dive location and what your PADI Instructor is able to offer.
How long do you have to complete the eLearning course?
The eLearning course will be available for one year from the time of course registration. Though you must finish the online portion of the course within that time frame, you will have perpetual access to an online version of the PADI Adventures in Diving manual.
What is the minimum amount of time it will take to complete this eLearning program?
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course online will take approximately 8 hours to complete.
Why does the eLearning course only cover knowledge development for these seven dives when there are actually more Adventure Dives to choose from?
After surveying PADI Members around the world (particularly those who teach the most Advanced Open Water Diver courses), these dives were identified as the most popular. Your PADI Adventures in Diving manual ebook has the knowledge development segments of the additional Adventure Dives, should you choose to pursue them.
How do you document that you've completed the eLearning segment?
Once you finish the eLearning portion of the course, the Ocean Frontiers Dive Center is notified that you have completed it and that you are ready for the practical phase of the program. At the end of the eLearning program, you can print out your eRecord and bring a copy of it with you to show your PADI Instructor at Ocean Frontiers.
